Linear Phase FIR filter design using Windowing method
Linear Phase FIR filter design was performed on SciLab for designing both, LPF and HPF. Values of As, Ap, analog passband and stopband frequencies were taken as input from the user. Depending on the value of As chosen, the window function was decided. The window function and the frequency values decided the order of the filter. This way the FIR filter was designed to give h(n) at the output, by using the appropriate window function.
Which window method has the least error?
ReplyDeleteWindow is selected on the basis of attenuation and order required and not on the amount of error
Deletewhich is best windowing method?
ReplyDeleteIt depends on the application as it is important to know the value of As.
DeleteIf you want higher attenuation, then you require blackman window and for lesser attenuation, you require rectangular window
DeleteHow was window function decided?
ReplyDeleteIt was decided on the value of As given at the input by the user
Deletewhat have you understood by studying this?
ReplyDeleteWindow method is used to truncate larger length impulse response to bring the range of frequencies from infinite range to a finite range
DeleteFor practical applications FIR filters with less number of side lobes should be preferred.
ReplyDeleteYes, energy should be concentrated in the main lobe.
DeleteHamming window has least error
